The paucity of studies and the magnitude of health disparities demand a greater knowledge base about racial attitudes and discriminatory behaviors grounded in racist ideologies. We need to move beyond attitudinal studies with convenience samples to multisite observational studies with large samples of nurses from different academic backgrounds in a variety of urban, rural, and community settings.
