With the work’s face against the sled, cut the bevel. To cut the slots, turn the piece over so the bevel is against the saw table. ROUTER TABLE APPROACHES Working at the router table, you first must address what cutter you’ll use, and how you’ll handle the workpiece. Whatever cutter you use, you need a fence that’s canted at the same angle as the edge miter. If you use a straight bit, the bevel must be flat on the tabletop. If you use a slot cutter, the bevel surface must be perpendicular to the tabletop.

The saw blade or slot cutter plows to full depth in a single pass. But if you’re using a straight bit, it’s best to do it in two or three passes. Stopped and blind cuts should not be done on the table saw, as far as I’m concerned. It’s easy to do them on the router table. Mark starting and stopping points on the fence. Align the end of the workpiece with the mark on the outfeed side, then plunge it onto the cutter. Feed right to left until the trailing end lines up with the mark on the infeed side.

Cut V groove across the wide board. 6" - 8" 3/4" 1/4" - 1" Assemble four joints at once with band clamps and V-grooved blocks at each corner. The blocks trap the tips of the joints, preventing them from moving out of alignment. Packing tape on the blocks prevents them from being glued to the assembly. plywood Scale width to height. Glue triangular strip to one or both ends. Miter clamping cauls Assembling Miters The challenge in gluing up miter joints is how to apply clamping pressure without forcing the joints out of alignment.
